SHORTAGE DUE TO FARMERS’ ACTION SCHEME OF MUNICIPAL CONTROL IBy Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright Sydney, February 22. ’The Attorney-General (Mr. L. AM'Tiernan) has announced that if the dairymen deliberately withhold milk supplies they are liable to prosecution under the Profiteering Act. The Milk Employees’ Union passed a motion that if the country farmers refuse to send supplies to the city the Government be requested to inniicdialely commandeer the dairies, and tho union will find the necessary labour io milk tho cows and distribute the milk. Tho lord Mayor has indicated a scheme by which Sydney’s milk supply can be municipalised. He stated that if the Minister of Health approves, ihe Citv Council will push on with it as rapidly as possible.- -Press Assn. | A message published yesterday stated that Sydney was threatened with u serious milk shortage. The distributing companies on Monday received only 2000 gallons instead of the usual 42,000 gallons.]
