STAFF PICNIC

Ideal weather prevailed on Saturday, last, when about 60 of the staff and friends of the Commercial Printing and Publishing Co., Ltd., journeyed to Maidstone Park to hol’d their annual nicnic, a very eniovable time being snent. In the morning names were indulged in. and after luncheon a sports programme was gone through. After tea Mr. J. F. Woodward expressed pleasure at the enjoyable time snent. and thanked the secretary (Mr. A. A. Roberts) and his committee for their untiring efforts to make the nicnic a success. Mrs. Woodward then presented the prizes to tho winners of the various events as follow: —Ladies nail-driving competition • ’Mrs. Staff. 1: Miss Downie, 2. Men’s sack race: B. Garrv. 1: A. Murray, 2. Married mens handicap: w. Alexander. 1: J. F.‘ Woodward. 2. Men’s open handicap: F. Rossiter. 1: P. Wilson, 2. Lad’es’ open handicap: Miss J. Lang, 1- Miss 0. Judd. 2. Men’s scramble race: A. Murray. 1: J. F. Woodward. 2. Thrcad-the-needle race: Afiss N. Lang and A. Murray. Elopement race: Miss Downie and W. Spencer. Married ladies’ race: Mrs. Jackson. 1: Mrs. Tullet. 8. Commercial handicap: A. A. Roberts. 1: B. Garry, 2- G. Bait. 3. Commercial ladies’ handicap: Miss N. Lang. Bovs’ race: Ken Stitt. Prices were donated by the following :—Messrs. J, Dickinson and Co., Gordon and Gotch. Alex. Cowan and Sons, P and 0. Manufacturing Co.. Colljns Bros., Morrison and Morrison. T. Gusseott.. Mr. T. Richardson. Storer, Meek, and Co., Mr. J. F.
