JUNIOR TENNIS

HELPING YOUNGER PLAYERS

The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association evidently intends to assist junior tennis. The .quarterly report of tile Management Committee states that a "i-alit of £5 ss. was made to the Auckland Association, and two rackets were presented to the Marlborough Association with a view to encouraging junior players The report continues: “The consideration of other applications received has -been deferred until the council has expressed its views on the recommendation of the committee that the principle be adopted of granting subsidies of All for £1 up to X’s, to properly constituted junior or schools’ associations. The committee desires to see junior tennis organised on a proper basis, and this cannot be done without having properly constituted control. It is pleasing to note that a large number of the tournament programmes now include events for junior nlavers The junior championship events plated off at the recent championship meeting were well supported, and the value of such events is being recognised.”
