THE THREATENED DEDUCTION

The conference between the representa. fives of the Master Builders and Contractors' Association and the representatives of the AVellington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners to discuss the situation created by the emplovers’ declared intention to reduce wages from 3s. to 2s. 9d per hour, took place in the rooms of the Wellington Employers’ Association last night. The proceedings were conducted in a very cordial manner, and after a discussion lasting two hours an adjournment for one week was arranged in order that the emplovcrs might consider certain P ro P° Sßl ? put forward by the representatives of the men.
