IMPERIAL CONFERENCE
URGENT CALL TO MR. MASSEY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hokitika, February 16. The Prime Minister arrived tlhis evening, and was accorded a magnificent reception in the Town Hall. In the course of an address Mr. Massey read th© following copy of a telegram from the Secretary of State for tho Colonies to His Excellency the Gottrrnor-General of New Zealand:— "I shall be obliged if Your Excellency will convey to Mr. Massey the following message for him from Mr. Lloyd George. Prime Minister: — 'I earnestly trust that it will be possible for you tb come to England for the conference next June. I consider that the conference will have to discuss and decide questions of vital importance to the future of the Empire, especially it’s policy in regard to defence, foreign policy, and other very important questions. I feel that it would be a great calamity if wo were deprived of your experience and advice.’ "(Signed) Milner."
