The fortnightly meeting of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held last evening. The president. Mil-. F. Meadowcroft, occupied tho chair. The treasurer reported Ithe. receipt of .£5 from Mr. F. Lowncsborough, of Lepprrton to the funds of the society. It was resolveci in accordance with the rules that Mr. lowncsborough be elected a life member of the society. Iho inspector’s report dealt with several cases of cruelty, mostly from the country districts, that ho had attended to. Subscriptions received amounted to £l.< l.>s. (id., including £2 2«. E. F. Carvosso, £1 Mrs. T. Smythson, 10s. Junior League, Master ton.
