CARPENTERING DISPUTE
CONFERENCE ON THURSDAY.
Work in the carpentering trade is to proceed in the ordinary way this week pending between representatives of the Builders and Contractors’ Association and tlie Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners. This conference, which is expected to be hold on Thursday evening, will consider the suggestion that has been made for the settlement of the dispute arising from the demand of the men for a fixed minimum wage' of 3s. an hour and the announced determination of the employers to reduce the wage to 2s. 9d. an hour.
