KARORI CLUB

The Karori/Rifle Club fired the second stage of its C.A.C. Cup competition on Saturday afternoon, at ranges of 800, 90L and 1000 yards, 7 shots nt each range. The south-earterly breeze blowing up the range, sometimes from tho right and sometimes from t'he left, and occasionally both ways at the game time, provided marksmen with sqme of tho most baffling conditions it is possible to got at Trentham. In fact, some of tho older riflemen looked back many years to recall similar conditions. It was Trentham at its worst. Range scores of less than 20 out of 35 were the most frequent among those registered, and in no fewei than seven cases did competitors register a “duck.” President H. Marshall’s score of 72 was, in the circumstances, u very creditable s'hoot, and this score, together with that of Rifleman R. Randall, stood out conspicuously above the rest. Rifleman C. Alorrison,. a handicap man, put up a good performance with fourth highest- score off the rille. The best range scores were 30 at 800 yards, by Rifleman A. S. Butler, 28 at 800 yards, by President H. Marshall, and 23 at 1000 yards, by Rifleman 11. Randall. Trophies for this stage of the competition were won by President IL Marshall in the senior section (club trophy dll Is.), and Rifleman C. Alorrison in the handicap section (club trophy .tl Is.). The following are the highest scores: — 800 900 1000

A bright and changeable light and a fish-tail, that bus not been experienced at 'Trentham for some time, were the causes of the shooting not being up to tho standard of this club. C. Alilroy got the best score oil tho rifle, this being his third successive win, and P. Barc'ham topped the list foi the day, closely followed by B. Burn. In the pairs match J. Ross and Stewart, 160 points, Dunn and Becgan, 159, C. Alilroy and Emms, 158, were the winners. 500 600
