NEW ZEALAND’S THANKS APPRECIATED'
LETTERS FROM ENGLAND.
Two more replies have been received by the Prime Minister to the letters sent to various organisations and people thanking them for the kindnesses extended to memebers of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The Rev. Charles Steer, vicar of Hornchurch, where the New Zealand Division had first a command depot and later a big convalescent camp in the grounds of the Grey Towers writes: “I have to thank you most sin’cerelv on behalf of my congregation, and the people of Hornchurch in general, for your letter and the testimonial of New Zealand’s thanks, which I hfive received this morning. I can assure you on behalf of my people that it was a very great pleasure and delight to them to do what they could for the New Zealand men who came over to fight tor the country and Empire. I shall have the testimonial framed and hung with the New Zealand coat of arms, wliicn your High Commissioner very kind y sent me. some time ago, and placed the church as a memorial. The Mayor of Burnemouth Charles H. Cartwright) writes: I have had the honour of laying before the Town Council your letter of March and the accompanying copy of T^'^ ons _ passed by the Parliament of New Zw land, conveying to tne people of - country the thanks of the people of the Dominion for the acts of kindness rendered to members of your Expeditionary arms united in one great effort on beCO py Of the• resolutions h ( Wero SO good as to . suitably framed and »««<■’'»“• Town Hall.”
