CHARGE AGAINST A SHIP’S OFFICER
A further adjournment to Wednesday was found necessary in the case of Edward W. Turner, second engineer of the Bellbuckle, who stands charged with intent to do grievous bodily harm tc Owen Collins in discharging at Collins a pistol loaded with powder and bullet, end on four other less serious charges connected with the same set of circumstances. The case was to have been heard on Saturday morning, but when Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.. took his seat on the bench, Chief Detective Ward said he was somewhat embarrassed as his principal witness Owen Collins, could not be found. "The man was not at his home yesterday or last night,” remarked tho Chief Detective, "and under tho circumstances I must ask for a remand.” Mr. J. O'Donovan, who appeared tor the accused, said he could offer no other suggestion, and the remand to Wednesday'' was granted, and the previous bail was renewed.
