COAL DISPUTE
NEGOTIATIONS PROCEEDING COAL OWNERS MEET IN WELLINGTON i The "go-slow” policy is being continued by the miners at the coal mines. The executive of the Coal Mine Owners’ Association met in Wellington yesterday afternoon, and later had an interview’ with the Prime Minister. The executive of the Miners’ Federation has also been in communication with Mr. Massey regarding his proposal that the dispute should be referred to a committee containing two representatives of each side, with an independent chairman. The position is that both sides have agreed to the appointment of this committee, subject to conditions. The nature of these conditions makes an immediate agreement difficult, and some further discussions will take place. The selection of a chairman is a difficulty.
