BELGIUM’S ACTIVITY. The “Metropole,” Antwerp, publishes interesting news showing with what energy Belgium is employing all possible means to resume its economic position in the world. Belgium, recognising the great benefits to be derived from a powerful wireless telegraph' installation in her territory which will provide rapid communication with the countries with which she stands in business relations and with her colonies, has taken steps to procure a wireless telegraph station which will be ono of -the most powerful and complete in the world. The arrangements for this great scheme have just been announced. Tho programme will consist of a general conference with the few firms who specialise in the construction of large staThe Belgian transmitting station will be in continuous business communication with the high-power stations in the United States. H should also affoid communication with the Argentine during 12 hours of the day, and witl the Con"o during eight hours. It should be noted that it is about ‘WOO miles from Belgium to the United States and about 7000 miles to Buenos Aites. A ln„blate ot traffic is anticipated, i.e., ” words per day, as follows:—3->,OOO to th United States, 10,090. to South America, and 15,600 with the Congo. The installation will occupy an area of 250 acres. The station Wilf be situated in Flanders. It is prorwiurri to locate it near J amise. but this plan may possibly be modified later.
