BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETS.

The Petone Borough Council met. last night, tho Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewan) presiding. There were also present Councillors Brocklebunk, V 7. Gox, J. Churchouse, J. Kyle, W. Hay, D. S. Bedingfield, E. Tovey, A. Anderson, and G. Cook.

The Valuer-General wrote, asking to bo advised of the council’s wishes in tho matter of the valuations of new dwellings erected in the borough since the general revision of values under the Revaluation of Land Act. The position was that under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the council might make the valuation or arrar.go with the Department to do so as heretofore.—On the motion of Councillor Cox, seconded by Councillor Cook, it was decided that the council should accept the responsibility, and make its own valuation.
