THE GREEK LIBERATOR
DENTAL OF HIS FINAL RETIRE- • MENT. During the recent elections in Greece, which resulted in a sweeping victory for the political opponents of M. Venizelos, the latter was credited with the following statement: —“In case the result of the «lectiens is unfavourable to me, I ehall deem it my duty to submit to the popular verdict; but, drawing the logical conclusion from that verdict, I will definitely abandon the political stage, and will withdraw to a remote epot. where I pass the remainder of my days." Apparently, however, JI. Venlzelos was misreported, and has not abandoned hope of another lease of power in Greece. His son, JI. Sophokles Venizelos, was interviewed subsequent to the elections by the Paris correspondent of the “Morning Post,'"' and said if was quite untrue that JI. Venizelos was retiring from politics for ever. “My father." he said, “stated that it the vote went against hijn he would take a rest, and he proposes now to take one; but he has in no way whatever pledged himself not to re-enter political life if ho regards saich a re-entry as being of interest to the Hellenic cause." z M. Sophokles Venizelos stated that his father was in perfect health —as well as he had ever been.
