The officer commanding and matron of Trentham Military Hospital acknowledge with thanks the weekly issue of gifts for patients from the Wellington Red Cross and flowers from many friends as well as the Red Cross. Entertainments and outings arranged for the patients included motor drives in Red Cross and Salvation Army cars, moving pictures, Y.M.C.A.; weekly dance and party, the Red Cross.
It is hoped by the promoters of thcommunity clubs for Territorials and Senior Cadets that miniature rifle ranges will be established in connection with these clubs, which will be available, on stated evenings, for the use of women and girls. Those clubs are already in tho course of being established in Hastings and Napier (following on propaganda from tho National Defence League of Wellington), and the girls from various schools and others are entering their names ns members of rifle clubs. ' When an address was given at Hastings to the Summer School of Teachers a special request was made by some of those who are in sole charge of backblock schools for such accommodation, as many country girls are fond of shooting, and would welcome a new avenue of interest. The rifle club, which was in charge of Mrs. Summerville, and which had the vwo of the range at the Y.M.C.A.. was a much-appreciated one, and many girls learned to shoot extremelv well. It is hoped that by the winter the new range will be available, and that girls will give the matter consideration in the meantime, and be prepared to spare time for a now and absorbing interest.
