PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF LANGSTON HARBOUR,

London, January 16.

The Mayor of Portsmouth headed a deputation to the High Commissioners with a view of enlisting the overseas Dominions’ financial aid in developing Langston Harbour into a port entirely devoted to Dominion trade. It was stated that the proposed cost would l>e four or five millions. The Dominions contribution would not be heavy. The Commissioners are submitting the scheme to their Governments.—Aus.-N.Z. Gable [lt was reported last June that the Portsmouth Corporation was promoting a scheme to develop Langston Harbour into a mercantile port, and hoped to obtain the co-operation and financial support of the Australian, New Zealand, and Canadian Governments.
