THE BRITISH EMPIRE
MUST STAND ON BASIS OF AGREEMENT
VOICE OF BRANCHES MUST BE HEARD By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. (R4c. January 17, 0.45 a.m.) New York, January 15. _ Interviewed, Mr. Doherty, Canadas delegate to the League of Nations, said: “I have the utmost confidence that the Empire will hold, but the Empire members must stand together on the barns of agreement, not on the basis of control. It is necessary to get the voice of all nations that compose it in order to get the voice of the Empire. I can remember that Canada did not agree in several instances with Mr. Balfour in the League Council regarding certain mandates and the admission of certain countries, but we reserve the right to our expressions of independence when we differ from those sent out by Downing Sfeet.’—Aus.-N.Z.
