PERSONAL ITEMS

Dr. Anderson, formerly of Wellington, returned to New Zealand yesterday on the Pakeha. Dr. Anderson, who came out as the ship’s surgeon, was accompanied by Miss Anderson, the only saloon passenger on board the vessel.

The funeral of the late Lieutenant A. C. Richards, who died at Trentham Hospital on Thursday morning, took place at the Karori Cemetery on Friday afternoon, and wae of a military character. General Chaytor and Major Finnis represented the Defence Department. The firing parly was in charge of Lieutenant Miles, and a party of the Senior Cadets of No. 42 Company, of which the deceased was formerly 0.C., wns under Lieutenants Chaytor and Smith. The pall-bear-ers were Major MacFarlane, Captain Munro, Lieutenant Dutton, and Staff-Sergeant-Major Ledbrook. Tho Rev. J. Dawson conducted tho service at the graveside. The Harbour Board was represented by Captain Hale Monro arid a large number of staff, of which the deceased had been a member. The chief mourners were Messrs. F. R. Webster and 11. L. Whiteman, brothers-in-law of the deceased.

Mr. A. 11. Goss, representative of Messrs. E. W. Mills and Co., Ltd., for many years in the Taranaki district, having resigned his position to enter into business at New Plymouth on his own account, was tho recipient of a presentation from the management and staff on Saturday last. Detective-Sergeant Scott, of the local Police Force, who has been in the service for about 25 years, has sent in his resignation.

Mr. Walter Wyatt, a former resident of Wellington, and for some years past a resident of Dunedin, is visiting Wellington in connection with the bowling tournament.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goldberg, of Wellington, are leaving on a trip to England by the next trip of the R.M.S. Niagara.
