HUTT BOROUGH AFFAIRS
MEETING OF TITE COUNCIL.
The Lower Hutt Borough Council met last night, the Mayor (Mr. E. T. Biehworth) presiding. . 'The Chief Inspector of Explosives arvised that the council would lie appointed a licensing authority under the Explosives and Dangerous Goodo Amendment Act, 1920. - Mr. E. Gray wrote, directing attention to the filthy condition of one of the bathing shelters on the bank of the river, arid it was decided to refer the matter to the jiolicc. A letter was received from several ratepayers legaiding the carting of spoil from White’s Line to the Recreation Ground, and to the very narrow formation of parts of the road. It was suggested that, rotten rock be used for widening and repairing t’he street.—The engineer was instructed to attend to the widening of the road. The following applications • for public building licenses were granted, subject to tho approval of the engineer:—Salvation Army. Gospel Hall, Homan Catholic Church, Church of Christ 1 -, Trinity Congregational Church, King George Theatre, Knox Church Gymnasium, Knox Church Sunday School.
