Mr. F. K. Hunt, 5.M., nag been appointed chairman.of the (j'aki Licensing Committee.
The head office staff of the AVellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board-took the opportunity yesterday of making a small presentation and saying farewell to Health Inspectors B. S. Reed and J. Lerwill, who have been transferred from tho Hospital Board to the Department of Health. Eulogistic references were made to the good work, often unappreciated because hidden, done by the inspectors in connection with the control of infectious diseases. Messrs. Reetl and Lerwill suitably acknowledged the good wishes thus conveyed.

The death occurred at Trentham Military Hospital yesterday morning oi Lieutenant Albert Charles (Bert) Richards. at the age of 30 years. lhe deceased served with the New Zealand Forces in Samoa, and later at Gallipoli, where he was wounded. He had always been closely connected with military affairs in AVellington. Since his return from the front he had been a member of the Harbour Board staff. The funeral, which will be a military one, will take place to-day at Karori Cemetery.
Air. Justice Sim is spending a holiday in Canterbury.
Air. C. A. L. Treadwell, solicitor, was admitted by Air. Justice Hosking yesterday as a barrister of the Supremo Court, on the motion of Air A. Gray, K-C. Lieut.-Colonel J. L. Sleemau, Imperial General Staff, Director of Military Training, will complete the term of his New Zealand service in April next, and will return to England on duly with, the regular army. Colonel Sleeniaii SNit to the Dominion from France, at the urgent request of the New Zealand Government for the services of an officer experienced in both staff work and modern warfare. At the termination of the period for which he was engaged the New Zealand Government again approached the Army Council to specially extend Colonel Slccman’s appointment until Alav, 1921, in order that he could assist with the important problems of reconstruction. , Colonel Sleeman has since been the clnly member of the Imperial General Staff serving in New Zealand, as Sir Robert Walker, late A A.G. in Auckland, was lent by the Coldstream Guards.
The death occurred at the Waikato Hospital of Air. Harold Arthur Emms, eldest son of Air. and Airs. A. Emms, of Takaka The deceased had for some time before his death been manager of Afessrs. Hall and Jackson s coachbuilding department, Alorrinsvillo. He served four years in the Expeditionary Force, doing service in Egypt, Gallipoli, and France, returning to New Zealand four months after the armistice was signed. He had suffered ill-health since returning, and when pneumonia attacked him his weak heart could not resist it. Deceased’s mother, Air. and Mrs O’Leary, and Air. Day journed to Hamilton to attend the funeral. The Rev. Father Dore officiated at the graveside.
