SIXTEEN BRICKS A DAY
Alderman Wills, a builder, stated at a meeting of the Bath Housing Committee that he had men in his employ who laid no. more than sixteen bricks a day. Alderman Long, another builder, said that if such men were dismissed all the others would down tools at onco. These remarks were made in the course of a discussion arising out of a. strike by the men at work on tho town’s housing scheme owing to the sub-contrac-tor having introduced piecework. The men have now agreed to go back pending reference to the Conciliation Board.
