BOWLERS’ VISIT TO BRITAIN

ARRANGEMENTS' FOR THE TOUR. A formal meeting of those bowlei’s who have signified their intention of accepting the invitation of the British Bowling Association to pay a- visit to Great Britain was held in the Wellington Bowling Club’s pavilion last night. Only a few of the members were absent, the attendance totalling over twenty. , Mr. ~T Bush, president of the New Zealand Bowling Association, occupied the chair. Mr. M. Barnett; of Christchurch, was appointed president of the team instead of manager. Air. Renouf, of Napier, secretary, ' and Mr. Gordon, of Wanganui, treasurer. The other officers, such ask. manager and captain, are to be appointed by the members of the party when they assemble in Wellington next month or are e-n route, to England. It was decided that every member of tho team should wear a silver fernleaf inscribed “N.Z.” Every member also was supplied with an order to oK tain a flannel suit so that all will be in uniform garb. It was decided that the balance of the money required should be in fho hands of the • treasurer not later than February 1. ' "Tn order to show appreciation of the services of Air. S. H. Underwood in making the initial arrangements, it was resolved to make a presentation to that gentleman prior to the party’s departureIt was stated that the team would in all probability assemble in Wellington in the third wepk in February, and would \ leave here in time to connect with the P. and O. steamer Markunda, leaving Sydney on March 1. The president of the party intimated that the agents of the P. and O. Company in Wellington would guarantee a connection. In reply to a vote of thanks for tho interest he had taken in the matter as president of the Dominion Bowling As- ■ sedation, Mr. Bush said that arrangements had been made for the adequate recent ion of the bowlers not only in Australian ports of call, but at Colombo. Bombay, Naples, and Marseilles. They would b# under the aegis of the British. Bowling Association, the secretary of which was Air. Hamilton, of London.
