The day's games resulted as follow: — ' Fouliy. v. Gyles' (Queen's Gambits-De-clined).—The opening was correctly placed. At move 8 pawn took pawn, .. pawn took pawn. At move 12 bishop took bishop; queen took Bishop; then knight to queen; bishop took knignt, pawnitook bishop. Pawn to bishop lour forced a weak pawn. At move_2o black got a. strong position by _ pinning u ,l knight. Bishop to bishop sixth follows.'ed, Md white's only reply, was pawn to knigßt three. Pawn to knight four followed this move, and -there was noth. for it but tn sacrifice a pioce, Queen i took queen, followed by the los? of a ■;j pawn, and white was helpless. He resigned on the 31st move. Mnson v. Kelling (Centre Counter Gam;j bit).—On taking , the pawn Kelling nturned to. queen one. At the tenth move knights werfe-exchanged. Bishops wero exchanged on tho sixteenth mov-, , nnd whito started to get tip nn attack. At move 23 white gave up his queen - for a Dawn, and "white checked witn his Took.
