Taranaki' won the toss, and went in to hat, but failed to make a good showing. Burrows bowled well throughout, Taranaki being all out before luuch for 75. Wellington batted steadily, and make 207, nearly all tho batsmen contributing. Taranaki's second innings was better, and when stumps' were drawn they had loat eight wickets for 121 runs. The cricket match between Auckland University College and Victoria College was concluded yesterday afternoon at Kelburn Park, tho visitors securing a win by three wiekets. Tho Auckland men played well. They made 33G for the first innings, W. E. Garrard, the captain, making 86 before being caught by Foster. Of the local bowlers Morton was the best, and nonplussed the Auckland batsmen. In their second innings Victoria did not open up ■well, but improved as time went on, and made a total of' 308, to which H. Morton contributed 80 and Broad 82, this partnership being an' eifectivo one. Beard ran up a score of 75. Of the Auckland bowlers Goodwin was the most efficient, his peculiar style telling. Auckland were out for a win in the 6econd innings, and the batsmen were very difficult to worry. Of tho local bowlers, Cousins made the best showing.
