The well-handicapped Maioha was a hot order in the Summer Cup, but tho remainder were evenly backed. Tinohoro, Red Ribbon,, and Trespciss were the leading division for a mile, when Grey took the favourite up. He settled the others easily enough, but had to do his utmost to head off I'inohoro, wlio stuck on well, and was only beaten by*, a head. Tr/w----pass was a neck away, and then cwiie Right and' Left. There was a very big; following for Royal Box in tile Criterion Handicap, and all sorts of rumours were about as to his galloping aWity. „ Several of tho others wcto evenly backed, 'l'oa Taua was the quickost to begin, and ho led into the straight from Winning Hit and Royal Box. The last-named then cam* away and won by- weral lengths from Winning Hit, who beat Kick-Off by a head.
