PETONE COURT

A short sitting; of the Petonc Court, over which fesrs. J. Piper and J. \\\ Jl'Ewan, J.P.'s, presided, was ticld'yesterday morning. It was stated that accused, who failed to put in nn appearance, had been found lying in a 'helpless condition inside tho car on tho pipe bridge near Lever Uros.' works on Christmas Eve. In response to a summons , from a motorist, with whose car Good hnd almost collided in essaying to cross the bridge, Constable Scarry arrested him. Accused becamo so violent that it was found necessary to remove him to the police station in a motor-car. Arrived there, he continued to be abusive, and • in addition to assaulting the constable lie smashed one of the' windows. The Bench fined him ,C 5 and cosls £\ on tho first charge, £2 on the second charge, and .Co on tho third charge, in default one month's imprisonment. .He will also bo required to make good the damage done v to the window.
