The Canadian Government, some time ago, made proposals to Australia, but nothing was done owing' to the 'instability of , Australian political conditions. Later,' when the Australian tariff was being revised, the subject was agaiVi broached. The Commonwealth replied that nothing could be done till the new fiscal .policy was ratified. Now thaj ratification is accomplished, the Canadian Department of Trade and Coiunferce intends to make a further proposal for a system of preferential reciprocity between Canada and Australia such as already exists with New Zea-land.—Aus.-N.Z.
