London, December 27. Mr. Sydney Fairbaini, a member of the Travellers' Club, has returned from an arduous journey in Central Africa, through the Congo to Uganda, After much searching he found a land of pigmies, whose avernge height i 9 forty-fivo inches, and whose houses average fiftytwo, inches high, and are entered by crawling. The pigmies are much hairier nnd lighter, coloured tihan ' the average tribes. The men are beautifully made, and tho women massive with tiny feet. Their faces are gnomelike. At the outset they were senred, especially by the camera, but later became easy, and danced all night by the light of log fires. Mr. Fairbaini travelled hundreds of miles guided by savages with it system of signalling by tom-tons, with which elaborate messages were sent—"Tho Times."
