PHYSICAL CULTURE BREAK-UP
The parents of ohildren attending Mr. J. W. M. Harrison'6 classes were present at his privato gymnasium, Featherston Street, on Saturday afternoon to witness tho various activities of his class. About fifty.boys and girls illustrated the "recreative" section of the work by joining in tho trvmunsium earner, "cat and { mouse," "hnmmor the glove," and "handball." "Coircctivc physical training" was indicated by Swedish movements and deep-breathing exorcises. "Active exor-ni-W wort- accomplished on. the parallel- i bars, vaulting-horse, and Eoman rings. I Mr. Harrison explained to tho parents assembled the reason and effect of the various activities. Dr. Line,' who was present, commented favourably upon the energies of the pupils, and emphasised the benefits to be derived from physical culture, .and piirticulswlj- tho breathing exorcises. He also presented the prizes to each of the following children who distinguished themsolves:—Doris Fanning (leader's medal), Madge Dalloiv, Edna Godtschalk, Beatrice Mayhew, Eleanor Smith, Cora Harris, Marjory Barr, Esther M'Adam, Eric Ackland, Ja<!k Darrell, James M'Adam. Waller Tanner, ITnrold Harris, Reggie Burnett, and Ken Pliilp. . The output of artificial graphite has risen very rapidly in rccent years.
