COMMITTEE MEETING. ' (From Our Own Correspondent.) Carterton, December 18. Tho monthly meeting of the AVairarapa I'. and A. Society was held at Carterton this morning, Air. James Hodder presiding. Messrs. T. O. Haycock, Greytown, and J. Martin, Martinborougli, were accorded the society's thanks for their donation of prize money. The Haivko's Bay A. and P. Society wrote -announcing 'the dat«B of thoir autumn show as March 15 and 16. The New Zealand Council of Agriculture wrote stating that tho society's resolution in reference to allowing eullicient fodder to bo carried for uso at the show with show stock had been forwarded to. the Railway Department, whoso reply was that suificient ieed for tho journey was allowed, but that tho could (not -bio 'extended to cover tho show period. The council also wrolo forwarding the Department's reply to a request for faster trains for the conveyance of stock, and a car attachment for attendants. The Department's reply was that special trains and car attachments are run where the tariff warrants. I Messrs. Billingtoh, Masterton, hvroto thanking the society for attention to thoir stock, and. promising a large entry for next show. The application of the Carterton Memorial Square Commiltoo for some old iron work for tho purpose of making seats was granted. Tho Caledonian Society were granted permission to make a turf jump on t'ho oval, and a committee was 6efc up to approve of tho work; Tho same commifcteo was empowered to let tho grounds for sports gatherings. It was decided that in future, when tho grounds are in use, the caretaker bo in ehargo. It was reported that Mr. Eathbone's tender had been accepted for the fir-e----wcjod on |tho recently-purchased holding paddock, and that tho tenders for grazing had been referred back. One new member was elected, and one resignation accepted. The Ground Committee were authorised to obtain an estimate for accommodation for horses and sheep, and report at next meeting.
