An excellent little volume, full of interest to lawn tennis enthusiasts, is the "New Zealand T,awn Tennis Annual," edited and compiled bv Mr. Henry DateFon, of AYellinpton. Written especially for the Davis Cup contest, it contains a complete history of the trophy and gives details of the conditions under which the championship must be played, besides containing excellent photoyrhnhs of previous matches in the bis event. In addition, the little book contains the complete, record of holders of the world's tennis championship and a pithy "Who's ;Who" section, enntainiscr the names and records of prominent tennis players greatly adds to the merit of the production. The laws of the game, of tennis compiled from the hiuhest authorities are of" great value to tennis enthusiasts. The fine photographs are a feature of the issue. Tiimpots have the means of forming a vacuum under their shells, and are preyed on to the rocks bv tho_ weieM of the atmosphere. That explains why they ar» so difficult to remove from the rocks.
