CHARGE OF CRUELTY
A SIXTEBN-HOIJRi DAY. B.v Teleeraoh—Press Association.' Christchurch, December IS. Serious allegations of cruelty to two girls, aged 12 and 11, were made nt tho I Juvenile Court to-day. The evidence taken showed that the father, who is in good financial circumstances, owning two farms, forced bis two eldest children to do all tho housework besides milking twelve cows daily. Their hours of work per day averaged sixteen on occasions. He thrashed them for falling asleep at, their taste.. The Magistrate adjourned the ease in order to give the father ail opportunely answer, the cluugc?. Meantime the children will be placed in. a receiving: home, and Ih© father MU j not be allowed access lo them.
