ENDANGERED BY COAL SHORTAGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, December IS. Stocks of coal for gas-making are so low Vhnt there is a danger oi) the gas supply of the city being affected before the Holidays are over. The Gas, Company lias less than a week's supply of coal, and 600 tons from tho Kahika have been held up owing to the shortage of trucks. The company has been, relying on obtaining a portion of tho Newcastle coal to bo brought! to Lyttelton in the Bilela. but. owing to the delay to the vessel there is no chance of her arriving until after the holidays.
