Tho 'Wellington College- toys had an easy win yesterday against tho Wanganui College eleven in 'tho nnnual -inter-col-legiate cricket mulch.; The match commenced in tho morning ou tho Wellington Collego grounds, and both weather and wicket wero everything that could ho desirod. Wanganui, "who wore captained by Gilmer, went first to the wickets, and wero all out for 99 in a little under two hours; Gilmer, who was labouring under tho disability of a sprained shoulder, shaped very woll, and mado lop ' score, with a total of 82. runs.' After hia wiekot fell,' however, the remaining batsmen, with the exception of Porritt. who included four "i'e in his total of 18, wore quickly dismissed by Burt and Onkey, both of whom were very successful - with tho leather: Wellington started out badly, the first wicket (Burt's) being captured' when the More stood at 7, and at tho luncheon adjournment tho board registered one wjeket for 14 runs.. On play resuming, Mackay and Banks mß.de, a stand, both lads playing fine cricket and adding materially to tho score. Childfl, Nicholls, M'Kenzio, and Tilyard also punished tho bowling, eacli in his turn contributing a nieo quota of runs. The lasfc.wicket fell at a quarter to five, tho innings closing for 182 runs. Well* was tho only bowler who approached form, and tho visitors' fielding was week. Wanganui's second innings was a colourless affair, the whole eleven being dis- '■ missed by 6ix o'clock at a cost of 65 runs. Wellington thus won by an innings and 18 runs. A match for the Heathcotc William* Shield was commenced to-day between the Palmerston Nori'Ji Boys' High School (which wrested the trophy from tho Auckland Grammar School last season) and the Napier Boys' High School-' Tho weather was fine but windy, and tho wicket slightly favoured tho batsmen. Napior hatted first. Their innings.was like a procession, and all were dismissed for 47. Harrison, Palmers'bn's bowler, simply paralysed the Napier batsmen, his first ball accounting for a wicket. Smart fielding w.ib done on both sides. Palmerston opened their innings with Harrison and' Sollitt' batting cautiously, but. the score soon began to pilo up. Hodder pui) up the greatest performance, making 81. The innings closed for 230 runs.
