London, December 16.., The problem of unemployment ib growing increasingly difficult.' There are 240,189 cx-servico men out of work, • and the total number of men, women, and boys out of employment is over half a million.
The executive of tho Labour Party has decided that the present scandal of starving innocent people cannot be allowed to continue. A person for whom no work is available is entitled to a maintenance allowance of at least 10s. per week for men and 255. for women, with mi additional allowance for dependants, until bettor provision for unemployment is made. A scheme should bo directly provided by the Government.—Aus.-N.Z. Coble Assn.
