The wind was fitful, and although the flag at tlio club house inV'oated that the weather was "light" for the. purposes of the handicap, most ot the yachty crossed the starting line with one or more reefs in. Those reefs were shaken out by some of the yachts after rounding Somes Itcck buoy, but under. the.Jiills the usual impossible squally conditions held. In conditions like this luck rules, and the speed of th(i yachts .and skill in Bailing and handling them is discounted. It has been suggested that tlio club secure a course which will not brin? the yachts under the hills, and which will give etea'dier conditions of wind.. • " . The first-class race resulled in a win for J. Jl'Lean's Bona ''smin.). Messrs. Scott and Jordan's Ailsa finished second (9min.). The second-class handicap was won by Mr. Ibbotson's Komp (smin.), with Mrs. Roberts's Seabird (Stain.) 1 second. ■ The ISrfoot and undor claYs race resulted in a win for Geisha (scr.),.with Tiri ,(15min.) second. Mr. IT. Hardham was handicapper. and Mr. R. Millman starter and time-keeper.
