'"Auckland Prices Investigation Tribunal has Had its attention drawn to the charges made for express delivery, several complaints being made against firms conducting that class of business. As a result of its investigations, the tribunal ha? come to feel strongly that the whole question of express delivery should receive the earnest consideration of tho Board of Trade. A Teport has been prepared, and is to be forwardod to the board, strongly urging it to make representations to fh<> Postmaster-General with a view to tlie Postal authorities increasing the scope of their parcol-post system by tho addition of an express agency. ' ' ■
"If the board thinks proper to make the representations outlined to the Post-master-General," tho report proceeds, "tho tribunal urses that" similar representations should he made to the General Manager of .Railways with a view to his Department issuing through bills of lading from North to South Island and vice versa, and increasing the radius of its deliveries in : all towns, lini9 making it possible to consign heavy _nnrcels from Auckland to Invercargill' without ■ the assistance private carrying firm? in so far as consignor and consignee are concerned. By the Departments increasing the score of their services as indicated, great benefit would be conferred on all classes of. the community, for many of the charges made now ly express delivery firms can only be characterised as iniquitous."
