TIRPITZ'S BLUFF
•Ulmirnl'von Tirpitz if still quite unrepentant, «iys the Berlin corrcsponden lof the London "Dmly 1 olograph. Jn the "Grcnzbotom" he once more scrmonsiscs his fellow-countrymen from an exalted'pulpit. He starts with tho assertion that "the method which began with the admission of our wrong against Belgium brought about, the loss.of thp war through the July resolution m 191.7, ami assumed grotesque proportions in the nuluinn of 1918. which is the main cause of the desperate situation in. wluoli we now are." In what follows it is not quite clear what the admiral is really after, but he entegoricallv deenbes hugland as a "hangman and murderer.' Apparently lie wishes Germans now to ake it lying down, and expects that lliey wouid derive some Iwnefit from recalcitrancy. ITisj iimiiecUnto hopes, however, are not very great, for lie says: "I myself do not count on seeing sunrise on the Gorman horizon, and perhaps the whole of the nrescml feneration will not live to see it."
The admiral obviously is slill living in a world of delusions. ' There arc a few people left who believe in him, but of all the political attacks haranguing in the marlicl-place he probably has tho smallest ring of listeners. Germans differ very much in iheir. views as lo the responsibility for Hie war, but at least nine out of (on will agree that at any rale I'irpitz was partly to blame for it.
