ECONOMY CAMPAIGN
M.P. ISSUES WRITS AGAINST NORTHCLIFFE PAPERS. (Reo. December 12, 11 >p.in.) London, December 11. Mr. J. R. Eemei', member of Hie House of Commons, has issued writs against three Northcliffo newspapers, the "Daily Mail," the ".Evening News." and the "Weekly Dispatch," also against Lord Rotherniore's "Daily Mirror," in connection with ilho anti-waste attacks on tho members of the House of Commons.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Tho "Daily Mail" and the "Daily Mirror" have been conducting a campaign against the Government expenditure. They published lists of all members of the House of Commons who supported such Estimates as those of the Ministry of Munitions and the Ministry of Shipping, describing them as "wasters" and "wastrels," and suggesting that their constituents should keep au eye upon them. The "Daily Mirror",published a special "squ'andermania" number with a portrait gallery of Ministers aud members concerned, together with an article by Lord . Rothermere on the Government's so-called grandiose -waste schemes."!
