A very successful sale of work was held at tha residence of Mrs. E. W. Huut, "Westlands," Lower Hutt, on Saturday afternoon in aid .of a fund for a'pronosed swimming bath at -the llluf t Girls' School. The stalls presented a very attlracttvo appearance, and their goodsfound many purchasers.
The marriage of Misa Patricia M'Govern, daughter of Mr. nnd'Mrs. F. M'Govem, Lucerne Road, Rcmuera, to Mr. C. M. N. Jacobsen, LL.B., of Auckland, took place at St. Michael's .-Church, Rcmuera, "on Wednesday morning,- December 8. The aa-emony was performed 'by Roy. Father Doyle.
With, the object- of raising funds for the genoral improvement of the playing grounds of the- Karori Public School,"and also to help in providing material for school sports, a bazaar under the nuspicos of the School Committee, assisted by friends of the district, was hold at the Karori School on Friday and Saturday. Mr. It. A. Wright, M.P., delivered a briof opening address. .Those in chargeof the various stalls were as follow:— I'roduco (fruit, eggs, vegetables, flowers, etc.), Lieut.-Colonel and Mrs. Smythn. Mrs. Moore, and Miss Hind; soft drinks and ico cream, Messrs. W. S. Brooks,, Kirkby, and W. Craig! jumble stall,' Mrs. A. Smith; bran tubs, Mesdamcs Q. Ganiage and 'L'inney; nng-throwing, Mr. It. Edwards; sewing and fancy goods, Mrs. Brown and Miss Cooper; Christmas tree, MissdYlluhy Richards and Rita Barnes j Punch and Judy dhow, Mutters E. Webl) and 8. Rces; cakes, Mosdames Lowe.ry, Butcher, and Miss Finder; sweets, Mrs. Nimmo and Miss Richards; refreshments, Mesdamos Henderson and Jeffrey. Mr. Stainton wns in charge of the sideshows, and Mr. Langsheay, chairman of tha committee, had general charge.of operations in connection with the bazaar. There yms a large attendance of pupi>; friends, and parents, and good sales were reported.

One of the scholastic successes gained by the New Plymouth Girls' High School was tlio winning- of the Meath Cup (for essay) by one of its pupils, Miss.L.Hurlo. The cup is open . Taranaki' Street Free Kindergarten hold their brcaklnguo. Christmas .party in St. Peters Mission Hall on Saturday afternoon. Ihere wns a large attendance, of the children and their parents,' and . a thoroughly happy tune was spent, not only by the little'ones themselves, but by tho grownups who also had their pnrt'to play in tho entertainment of the afternoon. Tho great feature of the occasion was a beautiful Christmas tree laden with sifts, and to each parent was handed from the tree n gift made bv his or her little »oy or girl as the en'so: might be.
