rWoolgvowers and manufacturers appeared before Congressional committees and asked for an embargo upon the importation of wool and sheep until the tariff can be revised, so as to give American flock-owners adequate protection. A representative of the NaiAonal Woolgrowers' Association pointed out that woolgrowers were being ruined by Hip importation of wool and meats, and unless something was done immediately Wostern ilockownera would bo bankrupt. He added thatl 986,000,0001b. of wool, enough . for two years' supply, was now stored in the United States. He estimated that. 95 per cent, of tMe present year's American clip was -unsold. Other woollen merchants pointed out! that foreign wool and meat products were being dumped on American markets, owing tc> thea depreciated exchanges, which mnkt> the operation profitable. They suggested that the tariff should be revised, taking imio consideration the exchange.!
