Among tho old corporation employees to have been retired l recently on superannuation is Mr. J.- J. Kerslake, who has occupied the position of overseer of the corporation yard and ilho streot maintenance work done by that staff for over forty years, and so ha* seen "Wellington grow from a small town into a large and vary thriving city. Mr. Kerslako, driving round from job to job, bas been a familar figure in Wellington, and thoso who know him well wish him a long and honourable retirement. In addition &> his duties as overseer, he has throughout, his life been n keen horticulturist, and was a leading prize-winner in the shows of years ago. As a mark of their respect, the corporation yardsmen have presented Mr. Kerslake with a handsome silver-mounted walking-stick, the gift! being accompanied with good wishes for his future happiness. The Corporation Staff Club intends to honour Messrs. Kerslako, G. N. Baggett (Public Library), J. W. Ward (.turncock), and W. Gibson (electric light department), members of the staff who'havo been retired on superannuation, ay a social evening in the Concert Chamber before Christmas. Mr. T. Pringlo has been appointed overseer in Mr. Kbvjloke's place.
