THE TOKORIMA MURDER
* ANDERSON FOUND TO 13E INSANE. J3v Teleeranh—Press Association.' ■ Hamilton, December 7. At the Supreme Court, William Anderson was charged with the murder of Frederick Henry Telfer, at Tokorima, on October U. When the case was called the Crown Solicitor imdmated that the Crown's case would be that prisoner was insane, and the jury would be directed by the Chief Justice to bring in a verdict of not guilty on the grounds of insanity. James Lofu and Herbert Hedloy Loft gave evidence as to the shooting on the lines of their evidence in tho Lower Court. Dr. Murray, in charge of tho Mount Eden Gaol Hospital, and Dr. Tysar, medical superintendent an Avondale, stated that the prisoner was suffering detentional insanity. This condition was not merely temporary, but of a permanent! nature. Ho was under the impression that he was constantly being persecuted. The jury without retiring returned a verdict'of not guilty on the ground of insanity, and prisoner was commuted to Mount' Eden Gaol Hospital, pending instructions from the Minister.
