SAVE THE CHILDREN FUND
The full executive of the Save the , Children Fund held its final meeting on . Monday afternoon. The secretary re- j ported' that the sum of approximately ,£3300 had been collected up to date, | and that at least .£2OO more was expect- ( ed from Wellington during tJie next ■ Week or so. Special mention was made ' of Brooklyn's collection, which amount- 1 ed to j8182.2e.'6d., also to the Labour ( Party's collection of almost -C2OO, and < lb Mrs. Bosails collection amounting to I *£107 on behalf of tlio W.C.T.U. Special j votes of thanks were passed to the Press , for the publicity given to the campaign; j to the women who had worked so hard on street day, and on other occasions, j very often against heavy odds; to the . men who had worked on the teams in , the city; to Mr. J. M'Donald for free use of office in his building in Willis ,j Street; to the Y.SIX.A. for use of fur- 4 niture; to Mr. E. W. Hunt and Miss I Low for their services as honorary ] treasurers; to the City Council for loan of j tables, etc., on street day, and for other i facilities .given to the executive; to Miss J Dorothy Saunders and those who assisted j her in' her excellent! dance recitals, the | j proceeds of which were given to the t fund and to all persons and associations j who had assisted during the campaign, j The chairman (Mr. J. P. Luke,, M.P.) expressed his personal appreciation of the way in which air the workers had 1 carried on in face of the difficulties that 1 had been me;i with. 1 A .number of accounts were passed for J payment, and a special committee, con- j sistin'g of His Worship th? Mayor, Hon. I Dr. Collins, Messrs. E. P. Hay, J. L. 1 Hay, and the secretary was appointed i to deal with all unfinished business and I She remittance of the money to London. 1 Subscriptions will still be received by ( the secretary nt his office in room- 13, j second floor of the Dominion Farmers' j Institute, but all those persons or firms 4 who have lists are' requested to let: the | secretary have whatever money is in $ hand as early as possible.
