OFFENCES AGAINST FEMALES
NAPIER MAN 1 SENT TO PRISON. By Teleeraflh— Special CorresDondent. Palmorston North, December 6. In the Magistrate's Court here to-day Albert William Caldwell, a well-known land and estate agent at Nnpitfr. was charged with having committed twn aifts of indecent exposure in one day at Palmerston North. Mr. Ongley appeared for Accused, and pleaded euilty. Re advanced na extenuating circumstances thai accused wns undci a very heavy mental strain through business worries, and was also suffering from a malady which made him unable to control himself. Evidenco was given by C. H. Bissett (solicitor) and C. 1). Wilson (accowitant), both of Napier, as to tho exemplary character which accused had previously bor.ni>. They said he had been a prominent member of tho Methodist Church and a leading temperancn worker, and neither could account for his lapse. Mr. Stout, S.M., in sentencing accused to fourteen days' imprisonment on each charge, said that tho fact that two offences had been committed in one day against separate females showed that accused had a predilection in this direction. If it was u mental case tlie Prisons Board could dfcal with it.
