NOTES AND COMMENTS

BT GMNCOR. Acceptances for the Dannevirke meeting are not due until Thursday nexil Owners will doubtless appreciate tho fact that they can see their horses' form beforo being required to enter into further liabilities. It i6'a piiy all racing clubs do not study owners as the Danuevirko Club is doing. The Feilding owned Miss Elva does not get much racing, so that after her two races last week site should be a greatly-improved mare, and should race prominently in her next public outing. After racing at the Feilding meeting, Blackhead, Sandy M'Donald, ltisiiighani, and Martial Dawn were taken to Woodville, where they will be raced next week. As their owner will be in Auckland at Christinas it is probablo that! tho toam will be racing at Ellerslie. _ The high-priced Martian—Secret Link filly is now commencing to show a bit of form at Trentham, and- if 6he goes on tho right way it is her owner'B indention to race her at the Wairarapa meeting at the. New Year.

The Trentham horses which are • engaged at tho Woodville meeting are to be railed north on Tuesday. J. M'Laughlin is taking live two-year-olds Prince Ferouz, Backsheesh, and Edendale, though he will only race the mstnamed. A. Goodman will take". Eoso Pink. Sagacity, and Trentham Hose., A. Godfrey will take Lord Usk and Prince Hal, aiid E. Browne will takfc Matty. Matatua. has had a change of stables recently, and is 110 longer- at Treiufiiam. The Birkenhead, gelding is being trained by his owner at Opaki, where ho will be tried over hurdles when the tracks get a bit softer. Nobleman made his reappearance in tho Iviwitca Welter Handicap at iieilding, and he ran a fair race, though he did not fill a place. If he keeps sound, l!he Sir Laddo gelding should pick up a. stake during the lioliduy meeilinge. . Lovematch, who is one of the fancied candidates for tho Auckland Cup, was 602U under silk in the Manchester Handicap at Feilding, but thougli she strippod well her showing was very poor. Hie race should do her good, ana she muy be expected to improve on this form. . Tho Oilaki trainer E.- Penman is short ly shifting his team to Bulls. ' Old Gold Vns schooled over hurdle at Woodvillo on Thursday, and gave : good exhibition of jumping. It is tj intention of his owner, Mr. 11 * M'lCenzie. to race him in tho Hae Hurdles at the Woodville meeting, an the Hymottius gelding will be ridden lJ. R.'Kaan. Tho locally-owned Sandy MDonal (Earlston-Hairnet) showed pace in 111 engagements at Feilding, but the An* traliSn-bred gelding seems to lac: 6tamina. . Paddington Green is working ver; freely on the New Plymouth tracks, an. after racing ai! Woodville next week h is to return home, and will be a runne at the Christmas meeting of the lara naki Club. Last year the son of 1 lag fall and Polly Perkins won both bi; events at tho Taranaki gathering. . Amongst tlhc winners at the Cantei bury Park meeting last month was Mai galo (King llufus-Bronze), who score* In the big handicap. . , . According to a report in circulation 11 London, S. Donogliuo, who rode, Bracke to victory in the Cesarewitch in Octo l>er, was rewarded with a present con siderablv bigger tlinn tho annual salarj of the Prime Minister."
