CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR THE SAILORS

A' meeting of the Social Committee of the local' branch of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society was held at tho Bailors'.Best, on Thursday evening, to discus 9 the arrangements for their 'Christmas and New Year treat for the seamen. An offer from Mr. • Prouse of a concert to aid the finances was gladly accepted. At present the date of the entertainment Is fixed for December 16, but this and tho place will be definitely announced shortly. Just now, when' so many worthy and urgent causes are calling for assistance, tho comn.ittee docs not desire to make sv general appeal to the public for the necessary funds, but would like to give a re-minder-to all friend? who, have tho interest* of ou' - seamen at heart, and recognise the great debt we owe them, All contributions, which may be .sent to any of the following addresses will be thankfully received.
