LOSSES.

December 2,..7.45 p.m.) ..,.' , London, December 1. ■' The "Truth" 'newspaper states that the directors of a carbonising company? which was formed in 1912 to utilise Scottish p«at for fuel purposes have decided to wind up the company affairs. The paper says that hundreds of thousands sterling have been lost. Mr. A. J. Balfour, a member of the Cabinet, was the largest individual shareholder. .He invested i 60,000 in idle concern. His brother. Mr. Gerald W. Balfour, who was chairman, was also a large share-holder.—Aiis.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
