Mr. B. M. Wilson, general manngar of the Tourist Department, who has been indisposed for some time past, is now gradually improving in health.
Mr. Bernard I'. Page, tho city organist, who has been a 6uflera- from a rather painful accident to his left eye, hap left the Davis Street Hospital, and is rapidly regaining his normal eyesight.
Amongst iQie passengers who arrived from Sydney by the Ulimaroa yesterday was -Mr. H. P. Stark, of tho Bank of New South Wales, Sydney. _ Mr. Stark is on a business tour of New Zealand, and is accompanied by Mrs. Stark.
Prior to his departure for Dunedin on transfer, Ml'. Harding, of the local branch of the Bristol Piano Company, was presented by his fellow-employees with a silver pencil caso as a token of their esieein.
Mr. Andrew Hanna. of Auckland, is at present visiting Wellington.
Mr. Greenslade, manager of -Speight's Brewery, accompanied oy Mrs. Greenslade and Miss Greenslade, returned from a visit to' Sydney by the Ulimaroa yesterday.
Tho Hegistrar of the Otago University has been advised tiy cable that Dr. 11 ills, of Melbourne, is unable to accept the Clair of Economics.—Press Assn.
At last night's meeting of the Petone Borough Council, Councillor J. Churcliouse moved: "That this council desires to place on record its high appreciation of the valuable services rendered to the Dominion 'by 'he late Mr. A. W. Hogg, a self-sacrificing and strenuous worker in building up and developing the national system tf uduiation." The Mayor seconded the motion, which was carried, the councillors standing in silence.
Mr. Frank Goldberg, who has been on a visit to Australia, returned to Wellington yesterday.
