"Too Many Managers."
Councillor Chapman opposed the policy of increasing fares. He said that if this policy were pursued the council would find that the fares would have to be increased in n greater ratio- than in the past. "I think we have too many inspectors too many managers in the tramways department," said Councillor Chapman, "and T think u revision should be made in that direction, if wo wish to get any actual benefit. The whole fault is m the- management." . ~,."., "I think the pruning knife is wanted instead of some other things," remarked Councillor L. M'lieuzio. "I am against 'increasing the fares." Ho felt disappointed that tlio management had not brought down any suggestions to deal with the situation. He did not want cheap mano"ement, and bad every confidence in the present staff, but when considering tramway finance the council should have some regard for the people living in the outly- " The' Mayor said the committee, would examine closely any wait spot in tho tramway concern. "If there w * surplus n,.miW of m»n. then they will be dealt |W 'S" remarked Mr. T.uko. who added that fbc committee had every confidence in the management. Tho report of the committee was adopted. _
